I am looking forward to reading the book and completely understand the host country could be a dodgy topic. It could be making you cringe just a little right now, you have nothing to worry about, the regional food scene is far above anything else and everyone loves to read about what people eat.
Your opinion of the country is just what people want to read and it's going to cheer everyone up that grabs a copy. Your writing is truly wonderful.
how about 'erbs and fil-LAY? have to remind myself it's just French, not pretentious. we had a disagreement about okra; maybe I'm just wrong it tends to be with a short o here?
A disappointing lack of German dates, but I am v excited about your new book and very much hope to catch one of these if I'm over at the right time. Also, I wanted to ask about the avocados: I've been close to buying a crate a couple of times, but always worried they'd arrive rock hard and then all ripen at the same time. Was that an issue?
ha! I WILL TAKE BERLIN BY STORM. They were amazing, but did require planning; I kept them for about five days with bananas in a hessian bag, and then refrigerated them. As long as I remembered to get them out a few hours before eating, this worked perfectly, would recommend. Have a feeling the Spanish season may be over but could be wrong.
I properly laughed out loud - re pecan pronunciations 😂!!

I think all the words I love the US pronunciation of are food words - obvs puh-caaaaans, also paaaahsta and bay-zyl.

Ewwww, French or not I cannot abide either. And yes, short 'o'-kra for sure.

Oh that sounds like an excellent system, I shall try to employ a similar one as and when I finally get some. Thank you!
